The University of Michigan Law School (Law School), follows an official admissions policy that seeks to achieve student body diversity through compliance with Regents of Univ. of Cal. v. Bakke, 438 U. S. 265. This Case No. 02–241 was argued before the Supreme Court of the United States on April 1, 2003, the court decided June 23, 2003.

Supreme Court Decision 2003 No. 02–516: GRATZ ET AL. v. BOLLINGER ET AL.

Petitioners filed this class action alleging that the University of Michigan’s (University) College of Literature, Science, and the Arts use of racial preferences in undergraduate admissions violated the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and 42 U. S. C. §1981. This Case No. 02–516. was argued before the Supreme Court of the United States on April 1, 2003, the court decided June 23, 2003.
